Lighting Control

With the introduction of various BCA and NABERS building energy efficiency schemes, it has changed the way lighting is controlled. To gain maximum energy efficiency of a lighting installation, it is essential that the way the lighting is controlled meets the needs of the space without using unnecessary amounts of energy. Efficiency is much more than simply low energy usage, an efficient lighting installation in a modern space must create the mood of the space, it must function in a way which maximises all facets of workplace efficiency within the space, it must not hinder the operation of the staff/customers within the space, and it must be adaptable for the changing needs of the space. There are numerous ways of controlling lighting to gain ultimate efficiency for lighting;

Time clocks

time_clock

Time clocks can be used to control the automatic on/off operation of any group of light fittings, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. It can also be used for signage, hot water units, heating/cooling, or any electrical apparatus.

Motion sensors

PIR_sensor

Motion sensors can be used to control lighting in a particular work area, or for after hours security lighting. A motion detector switches lighting on when the presence of a person is detected in that area, and switches off automatically after a pre-set time after no presence is detected.

Switching groups

switch

Rather than having a large group of lights on one switch, breaking the layout up into functional but smaller groups of lighting on each switch reduces the amount of lights on at any one time and reduces energy usage.

C-Bus/Dynalite

c-bus

There is virtually no limit as to what can be achieved by utilising these control systems. Lighting, blinds/shutters, air conditioning, electrical apparatus, audio/visual, security, and access control systems can all be integrated and controlled via C-Bus or Dynalite. It is very adaptable and changes can easily be made by simply re-programming the system. As there are so many possibilities available from these systems, please contact Positive Energy to discuss your particular needs.
