Fire Alarms & Emergency warning systems
Fire alarms, smoke alarms and emergency warning systems are used in almost all residential, commercial and industrial buildings to varying degrees of complexity. They can range from a simple battery/240v smoke alarm, through to a full fire & smoke alarm system with emergency warning speakers & main panel.
Smoke detector

Senses particulate smoke in the air and sends a signal to the main fire panel to sound the fire alarm.
Heat detector

Senses heat in the area and sends a signal to the main fire panel to sound the fire alarm.
FIP

This is the main Fire Indicator Panel, which provides indication of where the alarms are, and provides 000 outcalls to fire brigade. It can also be linked to a spinkler system (if installed), and can also link to the emergency warning speakers for evacuation announcements.
240v Smoke Alarm

These are commonly found in domestic dwellings, and are usually a self contained unit. If the unit detects smoke or heat, they sound a local alarm to warn occupants. They can also be linked to other smoke alarms in the premises so if one smoke alarm sounds, all smoke alarms will sound. These units also feature 9v battery backup in case of power failure. 240v smoke alarms are mandatory in domestic dwellings.
